“Support” was the word of the day for the SWLC team, last Sunday, September 30th, as they joined the sea of pink in the 5K walk/run and the undeniable feeling of camraderie in the fight against breast cancer. Team “Run for the Girls” raised $5,000 in their first year of participation.
Over 20,000 participants from the GTA came together at the University of Toronto—St. George Campus with one goal in mind…support! The popular annual event runs across Canada and is the “largest single day, volunteer led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs” according to the Run for the Cure website. Last year, over 30 million was raised for the initiative. This is the 21st year for CIBC’s Run for the Cure.
