Can you please pass on to your Surgeon my thanks. It has been an amazing journey since my surgery in February 2015. I am 120 pounds down and I am off almost all my medications including my diabetes meds, with my A1C now normal. And I am at goal weight! I am healthy and active, having built a deck in my backyard this summer, and now doing work on my front yard. I am also just finishing up my Class IV Instructor Rating - I am learning to teach people how to fly airplanes. I never could have done that at 310 pounds. Things I never used to dream of doing. The surgery saved my life.

The care I received from both the SmartShape Surgeon and the staff has been nothing but top notch. I felt so well taken care of, and they really put my mind at ease throughout the whole process. On Day One of the pre-op diet, I was intolerant to the shakes I was sent, and got very sick on a Saturday. I was able to reach the clinic after hours and the Surgeon himself called me back on a Saturday night. That Monday, the nutritionist (Margeaux) followed up with me and helped me with a new plan. Surgery day - wow! - there is always someone around to tend to you if you need, I was really impressed. The facility was really nice too. Post-op, the Surgeon called me twice to see how I was doing - I appreciated that a lot. Since surgery, the staff from SmartShape has called numerous times to follow up and see how I'm doing. They are motivational and caring. I don't have a bad thing to say about this place!

I cannot say how pleased I am with the professionalism at your clinic. I had my lap band done at another clinic a few years ago and now, experiencing a problem, found myself without any support to fix this problem. SmartShape stepped up to the plate and I now feel confident that I'm in the proper place health-wise. From the moment I first made the call to the moment I was helped into my car post-surgery, the care was second to none. The atmosphere of the clinic alleviated a lot of the pre-op jitters associated with any surgery. All the people I encountered were smiling, concerned about my well-being and informative. From my very first inquiry I have been nothing but impressed with everyone I contacted at SmartShape. My questions were always answered, and respected. Everyone in the operating room made me feel comfortable and prepared. The nurses at Don Mills Surgical, each one of them is outstanding. One nurse braided my hair when I was feeling not quite myself and when I left, she said the kindest words. I will never forget her. Now post-op, I do not feel as though I have been thrown to the wind, the support and guidance is wonderful. This experience has been so great thus far. SmartShape team is AWESOME, from the surgeon, nurses, nutritionist, booking coordinators ... everyone has been so great. I'll recommend SmartShape to anyone who is thinking about weight loss surgery.

A year ago I weighed 269 lbs. I had my surgery on October 7, 2015 and today I weigh 213 lbs. The lap band has definitely been a helpful tool in my weight loss journey. This has not been an easy journey but seeing results keeps me motivated. I am now walking/jogging 5 km almost every day along with jumping jacks, sit-ups, planks and squats. I am also taking a kickboxing class once a week with my daughter. My eating habits have changed tremendously and I am quite surprised how now, I don't crave the things I used to.

I am fitting into old clothes again and am down a size in my work uniform. I am back to the weight I was for several years prior to gaining the extra 50 lbs. So now my journey is really beginning. Going forward, any weight loss will be even more rewarding as I will be over the hurdle.
