The attention and care I received from all of the  beautiful people at SmartShape was exceptional right from the first call I made to the last hug I gave as I left. I had a gastric sleeve surgery done October 11, 2018, everyone at SmartShape was well informed and answered any questions I had pre- and post-op. The care I received while in Toronto for surgery was fantastic, your team there made the whole experience very pleasant for it being a surgery! Hello SmartShape, Today is the 12 week anniversary of my gastric sleeve procedure, and so I wanted to send a quick update on my progress. It is a day of celebration because I achieved a big goal of mine - to no longer be obese! I've lost 32.5 pounds as of this week's weigh-in, which moves me to 'overweight' on the BMI chart instead of 'obese'. Yay!! There's still lots to go, of course, but I'm celebrating with every victory. There have been lots of non-scale-related victories as well, such as dropping clothes sizes, an easier time walking stairs, and (my husband's favorite one) stopping snoring. Thank you for your e mails and phone calls. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year! My gastric surgery has changed my life. I am no longer pre-diabetic; my sleep apnea is gone and I am now on one hypertension med instead of three. I am down 55lbs and in the best shape of my life! Even smaller than I was in High school (every woman's benchmark :) Pretty impressive for a 45 year-old, I think. I had already made a commitment to the gym for the year preceding the surgery and the weight loss has just been a motivator to continue to grow stronger. I participated in the Tough Mudder in Sept; a 16km obstacle course in the mud. It was the most physically demanding challenge of my life but I did it and have committed to making it an annual event. This surgery was the best investment I ever made in myself. I feel confident in myself for the first time in 15 years and finally feel like I'm not hiding. Thanks for everything! Audrey

Overall my experience was very good. My surgeon, anesthetist, and nurses were excellent. Definitely happy with the pre-and post op care. I would definitely recommend SmartShape. Jim

I have never had such excellent care from each and every staff member starting from my arrival - the reception was very friendly and courteous. My anesthesiologist was very professional but funny as well, making me feel very comfortable. The nurses were incredibly kind and helpful. Just before I went downstairs to wait for my blood results with Peggy (I loved her, she was awesome, with a great sense of humor), one nurse came and gave me a hug and wished me luck. I was blown away by the care I received before, during, and after my sleeve gastrectomy. I was really nervous the day of the procedure but from the moment I arrived at the Don Mills Surgical Centre I was looked after so well. My room was beautiful, the staff was incredibly attentive and nice, and the care was top notch. I was especially thankful to the anesthesiologist for making the sedation process stress-free and almost peaceful, and the SmartShape surgeon for speaking to me both immediately before and after surgery, as well as phoning me at home on a Sunday to follow up on how I was doing. I deliberated over whether to get the surgery for over two years, but knowing what I know now about the quality of care from everyone at SmartShape, I would have done it a lot sooner. Susan

My entire experience from start to finish was wonderful. I was very nervous and they made every effort to reassure me at all times. The day of my surgery went so smoothly. My care in the hospital afterwards was excellent. The nurses were all so attentive and kind. They made sure to ask if I was in any pain and would immediately give me something to help if I was. When my husband and daughter arrived they had them get me up and walking and I was able to leave by 11am the next day! Laura

I am really very happy with the speed of having my surgery, I did not have to wait 10+ years. Obesity is not a life choice. When you have exhausted all other forms of diets and help programs, having the option for surgery should be available to all Canadians across the country. I am very thankful for finding the SmartShape surgeon and being allowed to have my surgery, the mini-gastric bypass. He saved my life. Thank you! Tamaray
